What is the South Louisiana Submerged Roads Program and what does it mean to southeast Louisiana?
The South Louisiana Submerged Roads Program is a road repair program to restore the roads that were damaged as a result of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita in south Louisiana. The program began in July 2007 by the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD). The program is funded by emergency federal funding from the Emergency Relief Program of the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA).

Fifty-six roads in Jefferson, Orleans and St. Bernard Parishes were identified and selected for repair based on the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) Damage Inspection Reports (DIR) and coordination between FHWA, DOTD and the New Orleans Regional Planning Commission.

The Federal Highway Administration has approved for roads to be restored back to their pre-Katrina status.
