(July 30, 2008) The completion of improvements to Marconi Drive were recognized with an official ribbon-cutting ceremony at the intersection of Marconi Drive and Harrison Avenue at City Park in New Orleans. DOTD Legislative Liaison Roy Quezaire, FHWA Project Delivery Team Leader Carl Highsmith, New Orleans Regional Planning Commission Executive Director Walter Brooks, New Orleans City Council President Jacquelyn Clarkson and New Orleans Director of Public Works Robert Mendoza headlined the event. (June 23, 2008) The project team hosted a media briefing and construction site visit for Engineering News Record (ENR) magazine and National Public Radio June 11 to discuss and highlight the Submerged Road Program. Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development staff participated as well as key stakeholder agencies Federal Highway Administration, New Orleans Regional Planning Commission and New Orleans Department of Public Works.
